Hey everyone, happy Monday! I hope your Father’s Day weekend was lovely. We shot a wedding on Saturday and spent Father’s Day in Idaho Falls with Tyler’s extended family on the Shearer side. We had a great BBQ, visited with family, and enjoyed an amazing sunset from the top of the foothills. It was a beautiful day! Today is our official two-year “engageaversary”! June 19th, 2015 was the day Tyler got down on one knee and popped the question! It was the perfect day, perfect setting, and the perfect ring! I am SO glad we have these photos to look back on and relive this day!
In honor of our engageaversary, I’ll briefly share the story of how Tyler proposed!
I knew the ring was coming. Tyler is not the best at surprises… he’s awful at it actually. He had custom ordered the ring, and we both knew it would take 6-8 weeks to get here. When it eventually landed on our front porch, Tyler was – guess where?!?! The golf course. Of course, a signature was required to receive the package and he couldn’t leave his golf round to come home and sign. So he called ME! He said on the phone, “I have a really expensive piece of camera equipment coming to the house today, can you make sure you’re home to sign for it?” I kid you not people. Golf is THAT important.
That night, we had a family photo session here in town. It was a massive family, complete with at least a dozen grandchildren. It took us almost two hours to complete the session, and afterward, Tyler said: “let’s go for a drive”. We drove out towards the mountains. It was a beautiful June day, the weather was warm and the sun was just beginning to set. We pulled off at the base of a hiking trail. Tyler grabbed the camera, tripod, and we started up the trail. Once we reached the top of the ridge (which didn’t take long at all), Tyler suggested we stop on the side of the trail for a photo-op. I didn’t think much of it because we took self-timer photos together quite often. He set up the camera, came over for a photo, and instead got down on one knee.
I was so happy! I immediately started crying and could barely get the word “yes” out of my mouth! The camera on the tripod was rolling video the whole time – we have a video of it all 🙂 We took some photos together and truly took in the moment and the stunning sunset. It was beautiful!
Thanks so much for reading you guys!
