Midweek Mantra

How is today already Wednesday?? How is it almost mid-August?? If anyone out there has the answers to these questions, please feel free to fill me in….

During this crazy time of year, it’s been so difficult for me to write blog posts as consistently as I would like to. Midweek Mantra is a new series where I’ll be sharing tons of things on my mind a couple Wednesdays a month. Hopefully adding this series will help me write more often and get all these crazy thoughts out of my head!

I’ve said this phrase in my head multiple times this week, “You Do You.” The era of blog booming and becoming “Instagram famous” is on a huge downswing here lately due to Instagram algorithms and trends coming to an end. Huge bloggers are losing followers by the thousands each day. These stats have made it difficult for smaller bloggers like myself to grow and motivation levels sink to rock bottom! I’ve come to realize that I started this blog not to become famous, not to make tons of money, or to be self-absorbed. I started this blog initially 2.5 years ago to document Tyler and I’s adventures. To keep our families and friends updated on our life! With a little bit of my personal style thrown in, that’s exactly what this blog is all about to this day. I do this for fun and because I enjoy writing! SO, in the midst of all the “perfect” Instagram photos and low engagement, YOU DO YOU.

Quick story – I have 25,000 unedited photos on my hard drive that need to be edited. Not overwhelming at all, right? Nah, not at all. 6,000 of them need to be edited before I leave for Alaska in one week. A couple days ago, Tyler came home from work and found me editing at my computer. He insisted he take a turn with the photos to give me a short break. I was hesitant – I’ve found a very particular editing style and it’s hard for me to hand over the reigns to someone else! I set it all up for him and left the room. I came back in 10 minutes later to check in on his progress (haha) and found him in tears. When he noticed me looking at him in the doorway with concern, he responded “They’re so in love. I miss this so much!” (he used to edit all the photos before I came around). He was really crying over peoples wedding photos! It was the sweetest thing ever. I love him so much and I love this job we do together!

A few other thoughts going through my head this week:

Team Bryan or Team Peter??

Someone teach me how to text people back right away… I am actually the worst texter ever.

SOOO excited for Fall. I wore a sweater yesterday and it was 85 degrees out.

I made a split second decision to chop 7 inches off my hair.. so there’s that.

What’s your mantra this week?

Thanks for reading!

That is so true. I recently started my own blog, have a 3 month old, and am going to be starting my senior year as an undergrad. But that isn’t overwhelming at all. *cue silent breakdown and ice cream eating*

Ohmygawsh! I’m so excited for fall, too!! Here in Phoenix, we have another good 2 months to go before the heat breaks – ugh! Loving your outfit – especially your top – so cute and I can totally see wearing it w/ jeans, too!

Thank you for psoting this. I can resonate with you on so many levels. I started my blog two years ago as an outlets for my emotions, soon after bulding a readership I turned it into a documentation of my life from my small corner of the world. I’m not here to become famour or to be known, it’s something I do for my own sanity and it helps me leaps and bounds! in terms of Instagram, I am losing the will to keep my page up as my following goes up and down, but at the same time I love how satisfying my theme looks to me when I open my Instagram and the fact its all my doing makes it that much better!
